A few short tips (a bit geeky but useful):
1. It is important to regularly validate your CSS and HTML. Make sure you check for broken links and other errors.
2. Your website should be crawled by bots (good bots!) without session IDs or arguments which track their path through your website. Allowing session IDs could result in incomplete indexing of your website.
3. It is important to manage and control search engine spiders that index your site. To do this, a Robots.txt file should be used.
You can thus allow or disallow spiders by telling them which directories you want to be crawled and indexed, and which ones you'd like to be left alone. You'll also want to modify your HTACCESS file to effectively manage bots or spiders and avoid bad bots or spam bots.
Note: in the rush for good titles, content, and other SEO ingredients, technical details such as the above are sometimes forgotten or ignored. That's a mistake which you should avoid. Your website will reward you with good page positioning and rankings. |
