Common SEO Myths - Part 1
Here are some widespread SEO myths, followed by the facts. Often, myths can sound compellingly true but can be very false.
Myth 1: Submitting your site to 500 search engines is great. (And so are submission sites that claim to do a super job for you).
Fact: Nonsense. If you submit your site to Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Ask (and these 4 you can do yourself in a few minutes), you are 95% covered. Reason: the overwhelming majority of "search engines" are powered by those 4. (We are not talking here about some major foreign search engines such as Baidu). And the other few percent will filter through by themselves within a few weeks.
Fact: Yes and no. Meta Keywords have lost 99%+ of their importance. You might as well nor even list them.
The story is different with Meta Descriptions: While they are not hugely important for higher SERPs, they are not negligible. Also, if written well, they can be very helpful because they are virtually the first introduction and impression a searcher will get of a website on a results page. SEO Trump Consultants strongly recommend that you draft your Meta Descriptions very carefully.
